We Didn't Build a Development. We Built a Community.

Better in Belize was created for people who believe that how you live is just as important as where you live.

Our Story, Mission, and Purpose

Our Story

Our Mission

Our Mission

Better in Belize started with a simple question: why should a good life mean giving up sunshine, community, and freedom? We found a stretch of the Cayo District with a freshwater lake, three waterfalls, and a microclimate about 10°F cooler than the coast - and set out to build a place where active living comes first.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Our Mission

Our mission is built on 5 Pillars of Active Living: physical movement, nutrition as medicine, community and social connection, purpose and lifelong learning, and financial and lifestyle freedom. Every part of the community is designed around them.

Giving Back

Our Mission

Giving Back

We support local students, sponsor festivals, and partner with schools across the Cayo District - because a better life here means a better life for our Belizean neighbors too.

Community at a Glance

Who Calls It Home

Our residents come from all over - Belizeans, Canadians, Americans, and Europeans - all drawn to the same laid-back, active pace of life.

Getting Started

Own a lot with just 10% down, with the remaining balance financed over 5 years.

Still Growing

With a limited number of lots remaining, availability is going fast - reach out to check current inventory.

Built to Last

Solar power, rainwater collection, and septic systems keep the community self-sufficient and off-grid.

Grown, Not Shipped

Organic gardens, cacao, and fruit trees grow right on site, supplying fresh food to the community.

A Cooler Corner of Belize

Our elevation and setting keep things noticeably cooler than the coast, with a freshwater lake and three waterfalls right nearby.

33+ Years in Real Estate. Living Fully — Through Movement, Connection & Lifelong Learning.

I've always believed that a good life is an active life , one where we keep moving, stay curious, nurture our bodies, and remain connected to the people and world around us. For me, that comes together through five pillars of active living: Movement, Mindfulness, Nutrition, Connection, and Lifelong Learning.

Movement: Movement has been a constant thread throughout my life. My sporting background has taken me from hockey and water skiing to wakeboarding, paddle boarding, swimming, body surfing, volleyball and basketball. Today, pickleball has become one of my favourite ways to stay active, combining movement, competition, laughter and great social connection. I've also discovered the importance of slower, more mindful movement — Tai Chi has become part of my practice, bringing together balance, breathing, awareness and meditation.

Embodied Health: I see the body as a temple , something to respect, maintain and nourish. That means paying attention to nutrition, eating good food, drinking healthy water, staying active and understanding how the choices we make every day affect how we feel and function. I'm increasingly interested in permaculture, gardening and growing food, because there is something deeply satisfying about understanding where our food comes from.

Dance & Continuum Movement: Dance has become another wonderful expression of movement and connection. I enjoy Latin dancing, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, West Coast Swing and Waltz, and I'm always happy to learn another style. For me, dance isn't simply exercise - it is music, rhythm, balance, creativity, connection and being completely present in the moment.

Connection: An active life isn't just about what we do with our bodies. It's also about who we share our lives with. I love spending time with good people, cooking and sharing great food, travelling, discovering new places, and creating experiences together.

Lifelong Learning: I've never been very good at sitting still  and I don't intend to start now! I'm naturally curious and project-oriented, and I enjoy learning by doing. I believe that staying young at heart has less to do with a number and more to do with curiosity, movement, purpose and a willingness to keep learning.

Ultimately, I want to live a life that is strong in body, calm in mind, nourished from the inside out, connected to others, and always open to the next adventure. That, to me, is active living.
